Does it pay for itself?
American cloud AI is a meter that never stops. You pay for every token, for as long as you use it. A local machine is a one-time cost, and after that running your models costs little more than electricity, a few euros a month. The more you use AI, the faster it pays for itself. Here is the rough math, anchored on what you already spend on cloud APIs:

Assumes a one-time hardware cost of a few thousand euros plus a few euros a month for electricity, and that a local open-source model fits the work — the savings are strongest for steady, repeated workloads. Over the 3 to 5 year life of the machine that runs into tens of thousands of euros saved, and your data never leaves the building.
There is even a small upside when it sits idle. When you are not using the box, you can rent out its spare capacity on a compute marketplace, turning an idle machine into a small earner.
Why European AI
For regulated and privacy-sensitive work like law, finance, healthcare and the public sector, sending European data to an American cloud is increasingly a non-starter — legally and politically. European AI gives you the productivity of modern models on infrastructure that stays under European law, with no American provider in the loop and no US jurisdiction over your data.
And we use only open-source models — ones you can run, inspect and keep — never a proprietary model behind an American API. Whether it runs on your own hardware or a European cloud, the AI is yours: full ownership of the models and the data, real privacy because nothing is handed to a foreign company, and no black box you depend on. Your AI answers to you, not to an American provider's terms of service, rate limits or content rules.

Enlightened Bits is an independent AI company founded in 2026 in Helsinki, Finland. We are two partners, Maximilian and Juhani, both recent graduates of Aalto University. What does the setup include?
We come to you and install a complete AI computer — the hardware plus full setup — or deploy the same open-source stack on a European cloud provider. We aim to be your long-term AI partner.
Which models do you use?
Only open-source models — Llama, Mistral, Qwen and the like. Models you can run, inspect and keep, never a proprietary model behind an American API.
Do I have to buy hardware?
No. If you would rather not own a machine, we run your AI on a European cloud provider instead — the same open-source models, under European law, with nothing on American infrastructure.
